Guake’te

Modern Community. Tribal Approach.

Home

At Guake’te (pronounced whah-keh-tay) we are a family- and connection-centered community in South New Jersey. Traditionally, a Guake’te is a festival of Taino folks coming together to meet new people, cultivate new friendships, strengthen existing connections, and celebrate life. At Guake’te, we’ve taken these core traditional values and have chosen to share them with the world by providing opportunities help build connections and friendships, learn new things, have exciting experiences, and inspire personal tranquility.

Who we are

Guake’te is owned by Danielle Liguori, a Taino with roots in Boriken, who is passionate about bringing people together in a supportive and heart-centered environment. She chose to build Guake’te to bring people together on a personal level, provide an judgement-free environment for people to be themselves, and to provide obstacle-free access to valuable resources. While developing this vision, and wanting to stay true to her Taino roots, the idea of creating a family retreat… a place with specialized resources, deep connections, and opportunities for all… came to fruition. The goal was lofty, but as she was guided to this vision, she is confident she would be guided through the process and provide a unique and valuable resource to her community- both locally and ultimately nationally and globally. As descendent of the land of the valiant and noble lord, she is both honored and excited by this opportunity.

Where we are

Guake’te will officially launch in Fall of 2022 with our first one-day retreat. These retreats will have opportunities for all members of the family, including private parent escapes and opportunities for children and teens to play and interact in an unstructured environment.

We currently curating locations and presenters for our first retreat. If you’re interested, please reach out to danielle@guakete.com.
